County of Imperial seeks a seasoned public defender to lead criminal defense efforts, oversee staff, and coordinate operations in the Public Defender's Office. The ideal candidate holds a JD, is licensed to practice law in California, has at least five years of broad legal experience including criminal law, and possesses a valid CA driver's license.
This role may include pre-employment screening and background investigations.
Under the direction of the Board of Supervisors, plan, organize, coordinate and direct the operations, activities and functions of the Public Defender's Office; direct and participate in the legal defense of indigent clients in criminal cases and other proceedings; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited school of law and five years of broad and varied legal experience including criminal law experience.
Valid California drivers license; license by the State Bar to practice law in the State of California.
This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.
