Job summary

The State of Oregon seeks an Entry Public Benefits Specialist to deliver professional, inclusive customer service and support eligibility processing in a fast-paced office in Oregon City. You will manage phone and email communications, handle records, and assist clients with program requirements and resources.

Minimum qualifications include two years in reception or a related field, or an associate degree with six months of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a busy reception area or high-volume call center with data entry.
• An associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science or related field plus six months of relevant experience.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Front desk customer service experience and ability to explain complex policies clearly.
• Experience with Word, Excel, email systems, and data entry in agency systems.
• Preference for candidates bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Be the first face of contact, delivering professional, respectful, culturally responsive service.
• Manage administrative operations including phone, email, mail, records, and data entry.
• Provide eligibility support by explaining benefits, procedures, and resources.
• Apply agency policies and ensure accurate processing of client services.
• Connect individuals and families with community resources and support services.
