Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Social and Health Services (DSHS) seeks a Case Planning and Support Specialist to join the Economic Services Administration in Seattle.

You will assess eligibility for cash, food, and medical programs, develop tailored case plans, and coordinate with health, housing, and employment partners to connect clients with needed services. You will interpret complex documents, maintain accurate case notes, and advocate for clients while upholding federal and state

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Washington’s public assistance programs and the ability to assess and re‑determine eligibility with accuracy.
• Comfort navigating and applying WAC, RCW, and internal procedural manuals to ensure services are legally sound.
• Strong understanding of building service plans that are realistic, trauma‑informed, and client‑centered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed interviews to assess eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Explain benefit pathways clearly and empathetically.
• Design, monitor, and update personalized case plans to address barriers and support employment goals.
• Refer clients to services such as housing, health, and job training.
• Coordinate with external agencies to align support plans.
• Review documents to determine appropriate program fit.
• Authorize and track supportive services such as transportation or childcare.
• Maintain up‑to‑date case notes in multiple systems.
• Respond to audits and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Participate in outreach efforts and client advocacy as needed.
