Job summary

The City of Minneapolis, Arts & Cultural Affairs Department, invites applications for a Public Art Program Manager to coordinate commissions of new public art projects and cultivate relationships with artists and city partners.

This temporary 12-month assignment, with potential extension, supports community involvement, contract development, and coordination across departments. Hybrid work arrangements are available, with some days in the office and some remote, aligning with city policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, public administration, social science, social work or a closely related field.
• Two years in the public sector performing management duties.
• Demonstrated ability to manage artists and coordinate commissions.
• Strong written, oral, and editing skills with clear presentation ability.

Responsibilities

• Managing artists and artist selection.
• Coordinating community involvement and input.
• Acting as liaison between artists, designers, engineers and project coordinators.
• Coordinating reviews for structural integrity, ADA compliance, maintenance requirements, etc.
• Coordinating community events and celebrations.
• Negotiating, developing, and managing contracts with artists, fabricators, and consultants.
• Developing promotional materials.
• Working with other departments and agencies.
• Bringing approvals before the Minneapolis Arts Commission.
• Documenting and inventorying project files.
