Job summary

Colwen Hotels in Portland, ME is seeking a friendly Houseperson to maintain the cleanliness of hotel public areas and assist the housekeeping team with stocking and delivery of supplies. You will handle daily tasks, respond to guest requests, and help ensure operational smoothness across shifts.

The role requires reliability, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work a rotating 7-day schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Benefits and training are provided.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a cleaner or housekeeper preferred.
• Perform consistent work at the highest standard.
• Remain discreet and respect privacy of guests.
• Work quickly without compromising quality.
• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
• Excellent customer service skills, pleasant and friendly.
• Detail oriented and thorough.
• Willingness to work rotational 7-day cycle, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Receive list of assignments and shift checklist from MOD and prioritize items.
• Respond promptly to requests from guests and other departments.
• Check inventory of cleaning cart and add necessary supplies; transport cart to assigned work areas.
• Clean and maintain the exterior of hotel including sidewalks, awning poles, signage, and entrance.
• Deep cleaning of assigned areas including shampooing of rooms, public area carpets, windows, light fixtures, and guest elevators.
• Dust and polish furniture and remove marks on walls and furnishings.
• Remove trash, dirty linens, towels, and room service items from public areas.
• Deliver items to guest rooms upon request from front desk.
• Ensure soiled linens are laundered, loading washers/dryers and folding linens.
• Clean guest rooms on occasion.
• Notify maintenance of needed repairs.
• Set up function/meeting rooms according to function sheets.
• Move and arrange furniture, turn mattresses.
• Empty trash receptacles and transport trash to dumpster.
• Take found items to lost and found area.
• Provide support to room attendants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
