Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Public Area Attendant to maintain cleanliness and presentation of lobby, corridors, restrooms, and other public spaces. You will work with Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and Operations to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth hotel operations.

Ideal candidates show pride in cleanliness, reliability, and teamwork, with flexible availability across mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Prior housekeeping, hospitality, janitorial, cleaning, or hotel operations experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and presentation standards.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced hotel environment.
• Good communication with guests and team members.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain public spaces like lobbies, hallways, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other guest areas.
• Keep public areas clean, organized, and guest-ready during shifts.
• Vacuum, dust, mop, sanitize, polish, and empty trash per standards.
• Restock restroom supplies, towels, amenities, and cleaning products.
• Monitor areas for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance needs.
• Respond promptly to guest requests and operational support needs.
• Maintain housekeeping closets and cleaning equipment in order.
• Report maintenance concerns and safety hazards to leadership.
• Follow sanitation procedures and hotel safety policies at all times.
• Collaborate with Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, F&B, and Operations.

As a Public Area Attendant, you'll help maintain cleanliness and presentation standards across lobbies, hallways, restrooms, meeting spaces, fitness centers, and other public areas throughout the hotel.

What you'll be doing

• Clean and maintain hotel public spaces including lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, meeting rooms, fitness centers, restaurants, and guest-facing areas.

• Ensure public areas remain clean, organized, stocked, and guest-ready throughout shifts.

• Vacuum, dust, mop, sanitize, polish, and remove trash according to hotel cleanliness and presentation standards.

• Replenish restroom supplies, cleaning products, towels, amenities, and operational items as needed.

• Monitor public areas for cleanliness, safety concerns, maintenance issues, and operational readiness throughout the day.

• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, housekeeping calls, and operational support needs.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping closets, storage areas, carts, and cleaning equipment.

• Report maintenance concerns, lost and found items, safety hazards, and operational issues promptly to leadership teams.

• Follow sanitation procedures, chemical handling guidelines, hotel safety policies, and operational standards at all times .

• Partner closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Operations teams to support smooth hotel operations and guest satisfaction.

• Help create clean, welcoming, and comfortable spaces aligned with Sonesta's People People philosophy.

• Any other duties as assigned.

What great looks like

• Previous housekeeping, hospitality, janitorial, cleaning, facilities, hotel, or operational experience preferred.

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.

• Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

• Strong time management, reliability, and teamwork skills.

• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation standards, chemical handling, and hotel safety practices preferred.

• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and service-focused mindset.

• Ability to communicate professionally with guests, team members, and hotel leadership.

• Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and operational support as needed.
