Job summary

NMDA is seeking an Intermediate Public Affairs Specialist to write and edit press releases, develop social media content, translate materials into Spanish, and support media relations in Las Cruces. The role reports to the NMDA Public Affairs team with a standard M-F 8-5 schedule.

This full-time exempt position involves coordinating communications strategies, creating analytics reports, and supporting video/photography efforts, events, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree + 7 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree + 5 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalent Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
• Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language translation.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit a variety of materials, including press releases and media content.
• Plan and create social media content for all department platforms and provide analytics reports.
• Translate news releases and documents to Spanish and assist with video production.
• Support event planning, coordination, and evaluation; manage media relations and stakeholder engagement.
