Job description

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties

  • You will provide public affairs guidance and support to the commanding officer and staff on internal and external news media/social media etc. and community outreach relations.
  • You will develop and coordinate special programs, events and ceremonies, including publicity, pamphlets, brochures, exhibits and coordinates news media news coverage of internal events.
  • You will maintain strong and productive working relationships with news media.
  • You will maintain solid working relationships with civic groups and community leaders.
  • You will provide protocol support for base commanding officer change of command.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Position frequently works overtime and on weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Interpreting public affairs policies and instructions; 2) Maintaining official websites, social media accounts, and/or content management systems for public affairs information dissemination; 3) Writing speeches, news articles, and/or briefs to disseminate information; 4) Coordinating internal personnel and resources for participation in community relations events. NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
