Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with two years of mass communications, public relations, marketing or publicity experience, including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development and dissemination of public information pertaining to operations and services of the assigned department.
• Manage public information for assigned departments: research, coordinate, prepare and respond to media requests; set up press briefings; coordinate press conferences; work with Emergency Management Coordinator and departments to share information; ensure website is updated; use social media to share information.
• Oversee and coordinate publications, community and employee newsletters, weekly broadcasts, online annual report, brochures/posters and department webpages; write, edit, assemble and communicate material for internal and public distribution; update digital signage; coordinate PowerPoint presentations for City Council Meetings; assist City Manager/CM Leadership Team in creation of informative presentations.
• Develop, manage and participate in social media activities; measure the impact of social media and marketing efforts; coordinate Cable Channel -15 programming, PSAs, and monthly event calendar.
• Supervise assigned personnel: schedule, instruct, evaluate, train and enforce rules; counsel and hire/terminate decisions.
