Job summary

The City of Odessa seeks a Director of Communications to plan, coordinate, and direct communications, marketing, and branding with a focus on Public Safety. You will collaborate with city departments to deliver accurate public information about services and respond to information requests, while maintaining consistent messaging City-wide.

Responsibilities include editorial oversight, media coordination, budget planning, and serving as spokesperson.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
• Five years' increasingly responsible experience in journalism, communications, and public relations; public sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations program for the City.
• Manage internal and external communications, media relations, and publications.
• Coordinate responses to public information requests and promote City programs.
• Serve as City Spokesperson and Emergency Public Information Coordinator during emergencies.
