PLUS Communications seeks an experienced Director in Austin to lead media relations and public affairs accounts, translating policy issues into compelling narratives and securing top-tier coverage. You will guide client relationships and coordinate with reporters to advance advocates and client goals.

This role emphasizes writing and editing across press releases, talking points, and briefs, with a strong AP style foundation.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of relevant experience in public affairs or media relations, ideally in an agency or Texas legislature setting.
• Ability to synthesize technical content for diverse audiences.
• Understanding of the communications landscape across digital, print, social, and broadcast.

Responsibilities

• Craft narratives by distilling complex policy content into messaging for diverse audiences.
• Draft media materials: press releases, talking points, media statements, opinion pieces, fact sheets.
• Develop media strategies and pitch reporters across various outlets.
• Coordinate media outreach and cultivate reporter relationships.
• Manage grassroots field teams for coalition building and local earned media.
• Develop presentations and strategic reports for clients.
• Track deliverables and act as project manager for key accounts.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, and external vendors.
