Job summary

PLUS Communications is a full-service communications firm based in Arlington, Virginia, seeking an Austin-based Director to lead media relations and public affairs campaigns for diverse accounts.

You will craft narratives, draft press materials, pitch reporters, manage grassroots coalitions, and supervise project work across client teams, vendors, and partners. The role offers a $100,000 salary with a potential year-end bonus, and a hybrid work-from-home environment.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of relevant experience in public affairs or media relations.
• Ability to synthesize technical content.
• Strong AP Style knowledge.
• Experience with coalition building and grassroots advocacy.
• Experience with press writing and editing materials.
• Understanding of communications channels (digital, print, social, broadcast).

Responsibilities

• Craft narratives by distilling policy into messaging for diverse audiences.
• Draft press materials: press releases, talking points, media statements, opinion pieces, fact sheets.
• Develop media strategies and pitch reporters across print, broadcast and online outlets.
• Coordinate media outreach and cultivate relationships with reporters.
• Manage grassroots field teams for coalition building and local earned media efforts.
• Develop presentations, collateral, strategic plans and other reports.
• Track deliverables and serve as a project manager for key accounts.
• Liaise between PLUS, clients, other agency partners and external vendors.
