Job summary

Mount Holyoke College is seeking a part-time on-call Lyons Lift Driver to support our on-campus wheelchair-accessible ride program. Drivers operate the accessible van to assist individuals with mobility needs across campus, the Village Commons, and nearby facilities.

Shifts cover shifts as needed and for special events, requiring reliability, safety checks, and professional conduct. Training will be provided; a fleet-certified status or ability to certify is required.

Qualifications

• You must be a fleet-certified driver or able to become certified.
• Valid driver’s license (any state) and satisfactory driving record (no violations within the last year).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high call volume around classes and weather changes.
• Ability to assist individuals in and out of vehicles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a pleasant, friendly demeanor.
• Ability to communicate effectively with riders and supervisors.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Must be available to attend all meetings and training sessions.
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug/alcohol screen may be required.
• All drivers and riders must wear seat belts; no cell phone usage while driving.
• Safety check of the vehicle before and after each shift.
• Ability to safely refuel the vehicle at MHC pump.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe transportation of individuals on route.
• Assist individuals entering and exiting the vehicle as needed.
• Provide curb-to-curb service in a professional, safe, and courteous manner.
• Conduct and document vehicle safety checks before each shift.
• Manage scheduling with passengers during shifts.
• Report and record all incidents to Public Safety Dispatch and document for the Lyons Lift Supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Keep vehicle clean and free of trash.
• Record daily ridership records.
• Communicate with the direct supervisor any issues or concerns.

The Lyons Lift program at Mount Holyoke College is looking for apart time on-call employee to join our team at Public Safetyand Services . Lyons Lift Drivers operate our wheelchair accessiblevan to support individuals with permanent or temporary mobilitylimitations with rides on campus, ensuring them safe and friendlyaccess to classes, dining, and other campus locations, as well asthe Village Commons. In this role, you would be asked to workcoverage shifts as needed and for special events.
