Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to provide patient-centered care across acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and outpatient settings under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.

You will document patient progress, ensure safety and quality standards, and participate in training of students and interns while contributing to a collaborative, high-performance therapy team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Physical Therapy Program.
• Currently licensed, eligible to be licensed, or having a temporary license as a Physical Therapist (PT) in Alabama is required.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Administer physical therapy treatment under the direction of the Physical Therapist.
• Complete patient-related documentation in a timely and compliant manner.
• Participate in clinical training of students and interns.
• Work in Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation and/or Outpatient areas as assigned.

Schedule: 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Job Highlights

Our highly skilled acute care therapy team provides occupational, physical, speech, and music therapies, along with audiology services, across a variety of settings. Practice locations include UAB Hospital and UAB Hospital-Highlands, which includes 12 specialty ICUs and two emergency departments, as well as specialty clinics like the UAB Russell Clinic and the Audiology Clinic at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. The goal of therapy at this level is to promote early mobilization, restore function, prevent further decline, enhance communication, and facilitate a safer and more seamless transition to the next level of care. Acute care therapy services are available with a referral from a physician, and patients of all ages are treated at the bedside in most cases.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, to administer physical therapy treatment according to established professional standards and uphold patient safety in all interactions. To complete patient-related documentation ensuring content and timeliness to meet professional requirements and legal/regulatory specifications. To participate in clinical training of assigned students and interns. To work in Acute Care, Inpatient Rehabilitation and/or Outpatient areas as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited School of Physical Therapy Program required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed, eligible to be licensed or having a temporary license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) according to the rules and regulations of the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy required. Currently certified with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required.
