Job summary

HSHS Medical Group is seeking a motivated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our inpatient/acute care team at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

The PTA will implement treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, monitor patient progress, document care, and communicate responses to the supervising PT. Ideal candidates are patient-focused, mission-driven, licensed or eligible for licensure, with BLS and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited PTA program meeting licensure requirements.
• Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a PTA.
• BLS certification or completion within 90 days of employment.
• Board certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Monitor patient progress and document care.
• Communicate patient responses to the supervising PT.
• Educate and advocate for patients and families.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Support therapy program goals and participate in ongoing professional development.
