Job summary

Pine Haven Rehabilitation and Wellness in Eight Mile, AL is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to support our residents in returning to daily activities. You will implement PT plans, assist with mobility and gait training, and contribute to a compassionate, team-based therapy program.

New graduates are welcome. The role offers full-time days with a focus on quality care and documentation compliant with Medicare/Medicaid standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current, unrestricted PTA license with the Alabama Board of Physical Therapy.
• New graduates are welcome to apply.
• Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging approach with older adults.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with transfers and lifting as required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including therapeutic exercise, gait and balance training, transfer training, and functional mobility.
• Work with short-term rehab and long-term care residents to improve strength, safety, and independence.
• Monitor and report resident progress and any change in condition to the supervising PT and nursing staff.
• Complete timely, accurate documentation that meets Medicare, Medicaid, and facility requirements.
• Teach residents, families, and nursing staff about safe mobility, positioning, and fall prevention.
• Take part in care plan meetings and work as a team with nursing, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social services.
• Follow infection control, safety, and resident rights policies.
