Job description

Position Summary

The Hospitality Associate is responsible for ensuring that guests to the winery receive impeccable customer service, while sampling our award‑winning wines and learning about our vineyards, history and wine‑making practices. The role calls for a positive, enthusiastic, self‑starter who is flexible, enjoys teamwork, and has a passion for wine, the ability to sell, and develop lasting relationships with guests. This part‑time position requires 30 hours per week and offers medical benefits and vacation hours.

Guest Service

• Greet all visitors with gracious hospitality.
• Act as ambassador to the estate and to Crimson Wine Group.
• Provide informative, engaging, and personalized tour and tasting experiences.
• Educate guests about the winery story, wines, and brand.
• Inform and recommend Wine Club benefits.
• Effectively suggest and sell wine and Wine Club memberships.
• Drive revenue by selling wine, merchandise, tasting, and memberships to guests.
• Participate in special events and team meetings.
• Actively continue education in wine production, viticulture, and winery history.
• Represent the winery at outside functions when necessary.
• Follow all company safety guidelines including Safe Alcohol Service.

Tasting Room Operations

• Set up and break down all indoor and outdoor tasting room spaces.
• Open and verify condition of wines.
• Prepare printed guest materials.
• Stock wine and merchandise on the tasting room floor and in storage rooms.
• Perform sales transactions for carry‑out and shipping orders.
• Maintain clean and organized guest spaces at all times.
• Assist with monthly inventory.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wine and food and continued learning initiative.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable speaking in front of crowds.
• Ability to prioritize, manage time and remain calm under pressure in a fast‑paced venue.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and stand, walk, bend, reach throughout an 8‑hour shift with occasional pushing, stooping and pulling in indoor and outdoor work environments.
• Manual dexterity to handle, polish glassware.
• Must possess or have ability to acquire a Wine Service and Food Handler’s certifications.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with ABC regulations.
• Knowledge of Napa Valley is a plus.
• Experience with a luxury wine brand is a plus.

Compensation

The projected hourly pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour (in addition to tips and commission for DTC). This rate is the projected compensation for this position, however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job‑related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
