TLC's Monroe Residential Treatment Facilities in North Carolina is seeking a Residential Counselor for a part-time to full-time, on-site role. The schedule includes mornings and evenings with one weekend day per week to support clients.

You will model professional behavior, facilitate therapy-focused groups, support treatment plans, and participate in mealtimes and nutrition guidance. Training is provided to ensure quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; psychology/social work/education related field preferred.
• One year of behavioral health experience; eating disorder setting or group home preferred.
• Must have a valid North Carolina driver's license.

Job description

Residential Counselor position Part-Time to Full-Time at Monroe Residential Treatment Facilities

Schedule: Mix of morning and evening between the hours of 7:00 AM-8:00 PM, and one weekend day shift per week (required).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to the overall well-being of clients by serving as a positive role model—demonstrating appropriate dress, grooming, communication, and professional behavior in a warm and supportive manner.
• Provide consistent, day-to-day guidance and encouragement in alignment with therapeutic goals to support the implementation of each client's treatment plan.
• Facilitate and actively engage clients in therapeutic groups focused on coping skills, relapse prevention, DBT, education, and life skills development.
• Group counselors also facilitate Meal Support Therapy (MST) and are required to assist in establishing proper eating habits. Comprehensive training is provided to guide this nutritional process.
• Communicate relevant observations and client progress with the treatment team to support coordinated, client-centered care.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client information and program-related matters.
• Participate in mealtimes with clients to model healthy dietary behaviors and support a positive eating environment.
• Ensure the treatment environment remains welcoming, clean, and organized at all times.
• Attend all required trainings, educational sessions, and staff development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of program goals and client care.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in psychology, social work, education, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• One year experience with behavioral health, experience with eating disorder setting or group home preferred.
• Must possess a valid and active North Carolina Driver's license.
