Responsibilities

  • Connect existing and prospective small businesses with appropriate SBDC resources through research, referrals and services.
  • Provide ongoing program support to the Regional Director in information systems, outreach, administration, training coordination, and marketing.
  • May provide consulting services to clients, focusing on start-ups, early-stage businesses and pre-venture activities.
  • Collaborate with MI-SBDC staff, other LCC departments and external partners to improve outcomes for Michigan’s small businesses.

The Program Assistant will serve existing and prospective small businesses primarily by connecting them with appropriate Small Business Development Center resources, as well as through research, referrals and other services. This position will provide ongoing program support to the Regional Director in information systems, outreach, administration, training coordination, and marketing to facilitate the effective functioning of the SBDC. In addition, this role may provide consulting services to clients, with a focus on start-ups, early-stage businesses and pre-venture activities. This position works closely with other MI-SBDC staff locally and state-wide, other LCC departments and programs, private service providers and other business support organizations to improve the outcomes and operations of Michigan’s small businesses.

This is a provisional position based on outside funding and provisional fund availability. An on-campus presence, 5 days/week on LCC’s main campus is required.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with small business or business ownership.
  • Demonstrated Customer Service experience.
  • Demonstrated database or reporting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
  • Certificate or completed coursework in search engine optimization.
