Job summary

Broward County Public Schools seeks a supervisor for the Before and After School Care program at Sawgrass Elementary in Sunrise to ensure the program operates safely and enriches participants in line with BASCC Quality Standards.

The role requires strong communication with staff and parents, supervision of school-age children, and oversight of training, compliance, and ongoing program improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years’ experience in supervising school-age children.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification and CDA credential required; BASCC training within 1 year.
• Must complete BASCC components I and II within defined timelines; ongoing BASCC training yearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with staff and parents; computer skills.

• Oversee the BASCC on-site program to ensure safety and enrichment per BASCC standards.
• Supervise and train staff; coordinate with parents and school personnel.

To oversee the Before and After School Care on-site child care program so that it is conducted in a safe and enriching manner for the program participants and follows the BASCC Quality Standards.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training in working with school-age children in a group supervision setting.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification and National or State Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required; specialty in School Age Child Care (preferred).
• Must successfully complete within the first year of employment the Before and After School Child Care Department’s Supervisor’s Training and within six (6) months BASCC Comprehensive Component I and II.
• Must take at least 10 hours of additional BASCC approved training yearly.
• Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication. Proven ability to work effectively with adult staff and parents.
• Computer skills required as needed for the position.

Or

• An earned Associate’s Degree or 60 semester hours of college credit from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience and/or training in working with school-age children in a group supervision setting.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Must successfully complete within the first year of employment the Before and After School Child Care Department’s Supervisor’s Training and within six (6) months BASCC Comprehensive Component I and II.
• Must take at least 10 hours of additional BASCC approved training yearly.
• Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication. Proven ability to work effectively with adult staff and parents.
• Computer skills required as needed for the position.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• At least 12 hours in Child-care related courses preferred.
• Bilingual skills.
