Primary Purpose

Provide fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to customers by achieving Food Lion customer service standards. Assist the Food Lion To-Go Lead in maintaining store standards according to Food Lion's practice manual. Maximize sales through excellent customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet each customer with a smile, using their name when possible, and provide prompt, accurate, and friendly service to create a positive shopping experience.
• Exhibit behaviors aligned with Food Lion's guiding principles, core values, vision, and strategy.
• Shop multiple customer orders using designated tools and equipment efficiently.
• Recognize and differentiate all types of produce, including varieties of similar products (e.g., apples, lettuce).
• Substitute items upon request.
• Scan, bag, and label purchases accurately and efficiently, following company policies.
• Verify customer IDs and adhere to store policies regarding alcohol sales.
• Assist customers with order pickups.
• Complete the Accountability Form from start to finish.
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
• Wear the Food Lion uniform, including apron and name badge, maintaining a neat appearance and adhering to dress code.
• Control store expenses through proper use of supplies.
• Follow all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
• Report cleaning or maintenance issues for the To-Go area and equipment.
• Complete required Computer Based Training (CBT) and Training Aid courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use computers, smart devices, and communication systems.
• Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
• Lift and handle products weighing up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
• Pull or push up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Handle substances related to cleaning, packaging, produce, and household items.
• Stand throughout the shift, with frequent walking.
• Reach and grasp at various heights.
• Work in extreme temperatures for short periods.
• Visual ability to check IDs.
