Job summary

Long Beach City College seeks part-time faculty in engineering to teach across Liberal Arts, Trade/Technology, and other locations. Courses may be day, evening, weekend, online, or off campus, with flexible hours and a focus on diverse adult learners.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in engineering or equivalent, with CAD and programming skills in C++, MATLAB, and MATHEMATICA. Experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks/CATIA is desirable. Transcripts and certifications may be required.

• Ability to teach Engineering topics including Materials Science, Mechanics, Circuits and Statics.
• Proficiency in CAD and engineering programming languages.

Responsibilities

• Teach engineering courses at Liberal Arts, Trade/Technology, or other campuses as needed.
• Develop and assess curriculum and student learning outcomes.
• Support diverse adult learners across on-campus, online, and hybrid formats.

The teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trade, Technology and Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s in any field of engineering; OR,
• Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology; OR,
• The equivalent

All candidates must demonstrate

Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Recent community college or lower division teaching experience.
• The ability to teach Material Science, Mechanics, Circuits, and Statics
• Expertise in CAD Software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia
• Ability to teach Engineering Computer languages and programming in C++, MATLAB, and MATHEMATICA
