Job summary

Coast Community College District invites applications for part-time/temporary faculty positions to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. Positions are as needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County.

Responsibilities include teaching all scheduled classes, maintaining records, and upholding professional standards. Instruction may occur day, evening, weekend, online, or off-campus, with hours arranged by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject, issued prior to July 1, 1990.
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience.
  • Associate degree and six years of professional experience.
  • OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above. Applicants seeking equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency.

Qualifications and Physical Demands
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject, issued prior to July 1, 1990;
    • Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience;
    • Associate degree and six years of professional experience;
    • OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above. Candidates seeking equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency.
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Recent community college or lower‑division teaching experience.
    • Expertise and professional experience in the field of course(s) to be taught.
  • Evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage a classroom environment and effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.
Conditions of Employment

Employment is part‑time, temporary, and contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. Hours will be arranged with the supervisor. This position is part of a continuous recruitment pool; selected applicants may be contacted year‑round for assignments.

Salary

Based on Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) in accordance with the current Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
