Position Title: PT Dispatcher Campus: East Peoria Campus Employment Type: Classified, StaffPart time Department: Campus Police Start Date: Job Description: Summary: The Dispatcher is primarily responsible for monitoring and operating the College's telecommunications equipment, building systems and alarms, and conveying necessary information to provide for a safe and secure campus environment. Compensation for the Dispatcher is $17.90 - $20.58 an hour. The schedule for the PT Dispatcher may vary between 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.
Essential Functions:
- Operate Campus Police Dispatch Center phone, radio, databases, computer systems, and other equipment.
- Obtain and provide information from callers to officers, to Facilities Services personnel, other college departments, and other agencies according to department procedures.
- Log information about department operations and incidents.
- Monitor and operate Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS).
- Maintain, distribute and file reports and items for Lost and Found.
- Contact proper agencies, officials and personnel as required during emergency situations.
- Observe weather monitor and LEADS terminal and report weather conditions as necessary.
- Monitor fire alarm systems, campus security alarms, remote access, and other building systems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain, distribute and file folders, records, reports and tickets as assigned.
- Distribute and log vehicle folders.
- Perform routine typing and clerical work as assigned.
- Work varied and flexible shifts, hours, and days off as assigned, to provide 24-hour service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Illinois Central College Dispatcher Training Program.
- Experience working in an office, customer service, or call center environment.
- Strong typing skills, including the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
- Maintain composure under stressful and adverse conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in dispatch or related communication, security, or law enforcement field.
- Experience in monitoring and operations of building systems.
