Job summary

Coastal Hospice seeks a dedicated CNA to deliver compassionate, hands-on care to patients in Maryland. You will assist with activities of daily living, personal care, and homemaking under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.

You will document services clearly, report changes promptly, participate in required training, and support unit operations as needed to maintain high standards of care for patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification in Maryland is required.
• Training per hospice regulations and standards must be completed.
• Ability to lift, push, pull or move patients and equipment safely.

Responsibilities

Job description

With written instructions from a Coastal Hospice registered nurse, provides personal care, assistance with activities of daily living, homemaking and related assistance to patients.Provides direct patient care as instructed by a RN and/or physical therapist.Rotates assignment to meet Coastal Hospice program needs 24/7 as required.Provides emotional support to the patient and family which requires effective human relations skills.Relieves the primary caregiver for occasional respite.Provides 1:1 care and other patient/family assistance as assigned.Communicates effectively and timely with supervising nurse and other hospice aides by:Documenting services clearly and accurately by the end of each shift.Promptly reporting any significant change in patient’s condition.Complies with Coastal Hospice policies by:Demonstrating knowledge of and agreement with Coastal Hospice policies and philosophy of care.Documenting 12 hours of in-service training per year.Successfully completing periodic competency examinations and performance evaluationsWhen assigned to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, these additional duties are required:Communicates effectively and timely with supervising nurse and other hospice aides by performing change of shift rounds.Assists with unit operations by:Reporting low levels of linens and suppliesChecking and documenting daily temperatures of refrigeratorsMaintaining safe physical environment according to unit needs and regulatory standardsPerforming light housekeeping dutiesCurrent CNA certification in Maryland.Successful completion of training required by hospice regulations and standards.Ability to understand and follow spoken and written instructions.Sight, hearing and manual dexterity to function with or without prosthetics use that will enable these senses to function adequately to fulfill the requirements of the job.The ability to lift, push, pull or move patients, equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of 50 pounds with or without the use of adaptive/assistive devices.The ability to negotiate level and unlevel surfaces with or without the use of assistive devices.
