Job summary

Coastal Hospice Inc. Ocean Pines location seeks a Care Aide to provide personal care and support to patients under RN guidance.

You will assist with daily living activities, homemaking tasks, and emotional support to patients and families, ensuring dignity and comfort. You will rotate assignments 24/7 as needed, document services accurately, communicate promptly with the supervising nurse, and participate in in-service trainings to meet competency requirements.

Responsibilities

• With written instructions from a Coastal Hospice RN, provides personal care and assistance with daily living.
• Provides direct patient care as instructed by an RN and/or physical therapist.
• Rotates assignment to meet Coastal Hospice program needs 24/7 as required.
• Provides emotional support to the patient and family with strong human relations skills.
• Relieves the primary caregiver for occasional respite.
• Provides 1:1 care and other patient/family assistance as assigned.
• Communicates effectively and timely with supervising nurse and other hospice aides.
• Documents services clearly and accurately by the end of each shift.
• Complies with Coastal Hospice policies and philosophy of care.
• Participates in 12 hours of in-service training per year.
• Completes periodic competency examinations and performance evaluations.

Salary Range: $16.85 - $23.00 Hourly

Communicates effectively and timely with supervising nurse and other hospice aides by:

• Documenting services clearly and accurately by the end of each shift.


• Promptly reporting any significant change in patient’s condition.

Complies with Coastal Hospice policies by:

• Demonstrating knowledge of and agreement with Coastal Hospice policies and philosophy of care.


• Documenting 12 hours of in-service training per year.


• Successfully completing periodic competency examinations and performance evaluations
