Job summary

SENDCAA is hiring a Bus Driver in Fargo, ND to provide safe, dependable transportation for children and families. The role is part-time (approx. 16 hours/week) with a schedule Mon-Thu 10:30am–1:30pm and occasional longer days for field trips.

The position requires a High School Diploma, CPR/First Aid certification (renewal within 12 months), and a Class C license with P & S endorsements. You will support Head Start activities and ensure safety and punctuality in route duties.

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation for children and families and is responsible for the safety of all passengers.
• Ensures driver and passengers are using appropriate safety restraints.
• Maintains appropriate behavior of all passengers.
• Transports children to and from the West Fargo ECSE program.
• Transports children and families for special activities, e.g. medical and dental appointments, parent meetings, Field trips, etc. in cooperation with other Head Start staff.
• Inform parents of approximate time of arrival and return; maintains a current route schedule for substitutes.
• Maintains contact with students until they are released to staff on arrival and drop-off.
• Responsible for bus attendance, keeping routes up to date, seating charts, evacuation drill and mileage log.
• Reports any damage or accidents to Administrator of Operations and Transportation/Site Coordinator immediately.
• Performs other duties when not providing transportation services, including answering the telephone and relaying messages.
• Become familiar with and implement school readiness goals.
• Participates in relevant training, including staff meetings.
• Report any observations that may be of concern per SENDCAA Child Abuse and Neglect plan.
• Maintain working knowledge of Head Start performance standards.
• Occasional travel to other sites.

Purpose of Position:

To provide safe, dependable, family friendly transportation services. Looking for someone with flexibility Mon-Thursday 1030am-1:30pm depending on the day. Sometimes longer days due to field trips. Average 16 hours a week with some weeks requiring more hours.Need someone with a lot of flexibility.

Below are some of the essential duties associated with this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed

• Provides transportation for children and families and is responsible for the safety of all passengers.
• Ensures driver and passengers are using appropriate safety restraints.
• Maintains appropriate behavior of all passengers
• Transports children to and from the West Fargo ECSE program.
• Transports children and families for special activities, i.e. medical and dental appointments, parent meetings, Policy Council, field trips, etc. at the discretion of the Administrator of Operations and Transportation and in cooperation with other Head Start staff.
• Inform parents of approximate time of arrival and return.Maintains a current route schedule, which may be used if needed by a substitute driver.
• Maintains contact with students until they are released to staff on arrival to our Head Start program and dropped off at the West Fargo ECSE program
• Responsible for bus attendance, keeping bus routes up to date, seating charts, evacuation drill and mileage log.
• Reports any damage or accidents to Administrator of Operations and Transportation/Site Coordinator immediately.
• Responsible for miscellaneous duties when not providing transportation services, which may include answering the telephone and relaying messages and assisting classroom and support staff.
• Become familiar with and implement school readiness goals.
• Participates in relevant training, including staff meetings.
• Report any observations that may be of concern, particularly as defined by the SENDCAA Child Abuse and Neglect plan.
• Maintain working knowledge of Head Start performance standards

Education/Training Required:

• High School Diploma
