Job summary

ASM Global is seeking a part-time Banquet Captain to supervise banquet servers and coordinate service for events. You will ensure timely food service, assist with staffing decisions, and maintain high guest satisfaction.

The role requires strong English communication, a neat appearance, and the ability to work standing for long periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Prior catering experience is preferred and coaching others is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Banquet experience preferred (1 year as server or captain).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced catering environment and maintain guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise banquet servers during events to ensure timely service.
  • Coordinate serving arrangements with Food & Beverage Manager for smooth events.
  • Oversee operations during events to meet client expectations and quality standards.
  • Train staff on service processes and guest interaction best practices.
  • Provide direction for catering activities within the Food & Beverage Department.

POSITION: Banquet CaptainDEPARTMENT: Food & BeverageREPORTS TO: Food & Beverage DirectorFLSA STATUS: Part-time/On call, hourly, Non-ExemptSummary: ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has immediate part-time/on call openings for a Banquet Captain. This position supervises and coordinates activities of banquet servers during banquets to ensure that food is served promptly. Regular attendance in conformance with the policies established by ASM Global is essential to the successful performance of this position.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesConsults with Food & Beverage Manager regarding serving arrangements and if additional employee and equipment are required for a smooth event.Oversees Food and Beverage operations during event to ensure client satisfaction and quality control standards.Observes food being served to ensure that food is correctly garnished and arranged.Trains other employees on processes and practices for food and customer service.Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s/policies and applicable laws.Provides direction to other team members for catering activities for the Food & Beverage Department.Responsible for consumption sheets.Keep linen cage stocked and cleaned.Ensure coolers are clean.Notify Manager when low on items such as lemons, creamers, coffee, etc.Other duties assigned as neededSkills and AbilitiesAbility to get along well with othersBasic working knowledge of food and beveragePositive attitude and neat appearance.Positive customer service oriented attitude at all timesAttention to detailMust be able to work standing for the duration of shiftMust speak and understand English.Daily lifting up to 50 lbs. Up to 15 minutes at a time.Tolerant to work under adverse outdoor conditions including extreme heat or cold and exposure to heavy dust, dirt and cleaning agent odors.Other Qualifications2-5 years of direct related catering experience in a high volume work environment.Excellent organization, planning, communication and customer service planning skills are a must.Must have the ability to work harmoniously in a team setting exhibiting excellent customer service to fellow workers, guests, clients and the community.Personal and professional initiative, enthusiasm, and dedication to excellence in wide ranging services to clients and guests.Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.Education and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or G.E.D or equivalent combination of education and experienceOne year’s experience as a banquet server or banquet captainPrevious supervisory experience preferred.NOTE:The essential responsibilities of this position are described under the headings above.
