Job summary

Central Texas College is seeking a Mathematics Tutor for the Advanced Math Lab. The incumbent will provide tutoring to students, assist with lab operations, and support the Math Department’s needs in the Advanced Math Lab.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED with enrollment in Pre-Calculus, completed College Algebra/Statistics, and strong verbal/written communication. Experience in tutoring, software use, and customer service are valued as well.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; major in mathematics or related field with enrollment in Pre-Calculus
• Completed College Algebra and/or Elementary Statistics
• Pre-Calculus or Calculus I completion preferred
• Must upload transcripts to prove enrollment in Pre-Calculus
• One year wage earning experience preferred
• Ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels
• Must be computer literate
• Strong verbal and writing skills; computational skills
• Proficient with Microsoft applications and advanced mathematics software
• Provide good customer service to students

Responsibilities

• Assist students requesting walk-in tutoring
• Monitor student use of math software, computers, and printer; implement corrective action
• Monitor and assist student use of personal and lab calculators
• Tutor individuals and small groups as assigned by the Advanced Math Lab Resources Coordinator
• Run the Advanced Math Lab when staff are unavailable or schedule ends
• Perform other required tasks as assigned by the supervisor and departmental chair

This job requires general tutorial duties that are discipline specific to the Mathematics Department. The incumbent is responsible for tutoring duties that will help assist students who are in the Advanced Mathematics Laboratory.High School diploma or GED required AND major in mathematics or related field with enrollment in Pre-Calculus required.

• Must have completed College Algebra and/or Elementary Statistics successfully.
• Successful completion of Pre-Calculus or Calculus I preferred.
• Must upload transcripts to prove enrollment in Pre-Calculus to be considered for position--

One year wage earning experience preferred.

• Must have ability to work cooperatively with people at all levels

• Must demonstrate a high level of verbal and writing skills, as well as computational skills
• Ability to use Microsoft applications and the usage of advanced mathematics software application.
• Provide good customer service to the students
