Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks an adjunct faculty member in Mathematics to teach up to three in-person lower-level courses, including Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Statistics.

You will grade coursework, provide timely feedback, and maintain regular office hours in the Math Tutoring Lab. Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Mathematics, experience using technology in teaching, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics.
• Experience integrating technology into the teaching process.
• Experience working with freshmen and the ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Availability to teach classes in the time frame between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. is a big plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three in-person classes of lower-level mathematics: Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Statistics.
• Grade assignments, provide feedback to students, and answer emails or other communications in a timely fashion.
• Keep office hours in Math Tutoring Lab and in-person.
• Update the required Bb shell for the class and use it for required class activities.
• Adhere to assignment workload, due dates, grading policies, and other general requirements for the course as prescribed in the common syllabus.
• Submit midterm and final grades on time.
• Attend meetings with course coordinator.
