Job summary

United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk, Inc. is seeking a Part-Time Driver for our Adult Day Services in Suffolk County, NY. You will transport participants to and from day programs and community outings, operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and help participants board and exit safely.

The role emphasizes safety, compassion, and reliability. You will complete vehicle inspections, logbooks, communicate with families and staff, and support participants' independence.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Dependable, patient and caring attitude.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Ability to follow agency policies and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport participants to and from day programs and community outings.
• Operate wheelchair-accessible agency vehicles, including lifts and tie-down systems.
• Assist individuals with entering and exiting vehicles safely.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of participants during transportation.
• Complete vehicle inspections, maintain logbooks, and report maintenance concerns.
• Fuel and maintain cleanliness of agency vehicles.
• Communicate professionally with families, residential providers, advocates, and team members.
• Work collaboratively with program staff to support participant needs.
