Virginia Western Community College is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant/Culinary Arts Lab Technician in the Culinary Arts Department. This role provides kitchen lab management and administrative support to faculty in the culinary arts program.
Responsibilities include inventory management, receiving deliveries, stocking and storage, facility upkeep, and completing clerical tasks to support multiple kitchen labs, including setup and breakdown.

Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant/Culinary Arts Lab Technician in the Culinary Arts Department in the School of Business, Technologies & Trades. This position provides kitchen lab management and administrative assistance to the faculty in the culinary arts program. Position duties include assistance with inventory management, inventory delivery receipt and stocking/storage, facility upkeep including cleaning and maintenance requests, various clerical duties in support of the program and faculty to include supporting multiple kitchen labs (preparation/setup/breakdown).
Experience in office management, purchasing procedures, managing inventory and ability to complete basic math calculations. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment. Experience in using computers and software. Experience in Internet navigation skills and web-based software. Effective public relations skills and the abilityto work with a diverse population including employees, students, and the general public. Effective verbal and written communications skills.
Associate's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Business, Office Management, or related field. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of the academic environment, PeopleSoft, EVA, and Microsoft Office. Ability to lift up to of 50 pounds and use of hand trucks/carts. Experience in the food-service industry in purchasing, inventory and food rotation, general kitchen cleaning and sanitizing and customer service/retail.
