Job description

Join to apply for the Psychologist - Remote role at Loyal Source Government Services.

This psychologist performs Medical Disability Examinations (MDE) for veterans filing disability claims related to mental health conditions (e.g., PTSD, Depression, Anxiety) through the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) as part of the Compensation and Pension Program. These comprehensive mental health exams include assessments and medical opinions but do not involve treatment.

Key Roles

1. Conduct standard outpatient assessments and evaluations.
2. Handle psychological/neuropsychological testing requests.
3. Participate in peer consultations, staff meetings, and training sessions; ensure entries meet VA guidelines; perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
4. Perform non-MD clinical reviews, including requests for psychological or neuropsychological testing.

Responsibilities

1. Perform comprehensive mental health examinations (MDE) for conditions such as PTSD, Depression, MST, anxiety, eating disorders.
2. Write medical opinions as a subject matter expert for mental health claims.
3. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and VA rules.
4. Note: C&P mental health examinations are one-time, no-treatment assessments.

Required Qualifications

1. Licensed doctoral-level (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) Psychologist with a current, unrestricted license.
2. At least 2 years of post-licensure experience.
3. Proficiency with Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel.
4. Dedicated secure workspace with high-speed internet access at home.
5. Graduated from an APA-accredited school or doctoral program.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience performing C&P exams (training provided).
• Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
• American Society for Psychological Practice and Policy (ASPPB) Certificate of Professional Qualification (CPQ).
• Experience in managed care, peer reviews, and working with commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare lines.
• Experience with CPT and HCPCS codes, higher levels of care, children and adolescents, substance abuse, and evidence-based treatments.
• Advanced computer skills, organizational and time management skills, and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment.
