Psychologist (Remote)

The psychologist performs Medical Disability Examinations (MDE) for veterans when they file disability claims for mental health conditions (e.g., PTSD, Depression, Anxiety) through the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) as part of the Compensation and Pension Program. These comprehensive mental health exams involve assessments and medical opinions but do not include treatment.

Key Roles

1. Standard outpatient assessments/evaluations
2. Psychological/Neuropsychological Testing service requests
3. Participate in peer consultations, staff meetings, and trainings; ensure determinations comply with VA guidelines; perform other duties as assigned by the manager
4. Conduct non-MD clinical reviews, including requests for psychological or neuropsychological testing

Responsibilities

1. Perform comprehensive mental health examinations (MDE) for conditions such as PTSD, Depression, MST, anxiety, eating disorders
2. Write medical opinions as a subject matter expert for mental health claims
3. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and VA regulations
4. Note: C&P mental health examinations are one-time, non-treatment assessments

Required Qualifications

1. Licensed doctoral-level (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) Psychologist
2. Current license permitting full, independent practice without restrictions (additional state licenses may be required)
3. At least 2 years of post-licensure experience
4. Proficiency with Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel
5. Dedicated secure workspace with high-speed internet access at home
6. Graduated from an APA-accredited doctoral program

Preferred Requirements

1. Experience in performing C&P exams (training provided if not)
2. Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)
3. American Society for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (ASPPB) Certification (CPQ)
4. Experience in managed care, peer reviews, and billing codes (CPT, HCPCS)
5. Clinical experience with children, adolescents, substance abuse, higher levels of care, and evidence-based treatments
6. Advanced computer skills, organizational, and communication skills
7. Ability to work independently and in a team environment
8. Adaptability to a fast-paced, changing environment

Pay: $66.40 + $4.93 H&W /hr
