Job summary

HAN Staff seeks a Psychologist in Brentwood, TN to deliver screenings, assessments, and treatment plans for inmates within a correctional health team. This full-time, on-site role includes travel pay with lodging and meal stipends, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements include a Doctoral degree in Psychology, an unrestricted state license, and at least two years of clinical experience. A valid driver's license and PSV where required are also expected.

Qualifications

  • Current, valid TN license/certification in good standing for the position.
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state of practice.
  • Two years of clinical experience, including one year in a comparable position.
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Primary Source Verification (PSV) copy if required by the board.
  • Valid driver's license and applicable certifications (e.g., BLS, immunizations).

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychological screenings and assessments of inmates.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry and other health staff to integrate care.
  • Develop and adjust individual treatment plans based on evaluations.
  • Conduct rounds in housing areas to assess inmate mental health needs.
  • Provide counseling and crisis interventions as needed.

Travel Pay:$122.61/hour

(W2)

Travel Rate (based on 40 hours): Hrly $122.61, Stipend (Lodging $910.00 + M&I $602.00) = $1,512.00

Total Comp :$6,416.40

Travel Eligibility: Candidates must live at least 70+ miles from the facility to qualify for Travel Pay.

Shift Details:

  • Full Time - in person 8 hour shifts, 5 days per week.

Psychologist Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.

  • Conducts psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records, and clinical interviews with inmates.

  • As part of a mental health team, confers with other clinical staff, e.g., psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, social workers, in order to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems, to ensure treatment activities are well integrated, and patient care follow-through occurs.

  • Provides treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning.

  • Makes regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.

  • Provides appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis.

  • Consults with psychiatry, mental health nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, security staff, and others, as applicable to gather information and understanding into the reasons for the escalation of problems behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current, valid, and unrestricted TN license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

  • Must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the state where practice occurs.

  • Must have two (2) years of clinical experience, which includes one year in a comparable position.

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Doctoral degree in Psychology.

  • Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

  • A valid driver's license.

  • Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
