Responsibilities
The School Psychologist assists students with academic, social, and emotional well-being and works with students and families to promote student success. The School Psychologist is a critical member of the IEP team and is relied upon to provide insight and guidance to the team regarding student academic and behavioral functioning. Essential duties include:
- Administering diagnostic and curriculum-based assessments
- Using intelligence and academic performance testing to determine student
diagnoses and recommendations for needed specialized services
- Observing students in various academic and social settings to gain insight and data
into students' overall functioning in school
- Writing and delivering reports and descriptive explanations of assessment results
and diagnosesk to parents and the IEP team at eligibility determination meetings
- Delivering individual psychology services to students as described in the IEP
- Providing consultative psychology services to parents and school staff as described
in the IEP
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Psychology
- Illinois Professional Educator Licensure for School Psychologist
- Minimum 1-year experience as a School Psychologist
- Preferred: experience working with Chicago Public Schools and related systems
Posted Salary Range
USD $80,000.00 - USD $80,000.00 /Yr.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
- Capacity to notice and respond to non-verbal cues from students.
- Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotional demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Ability to travel to five different Chicago campuses to provide services described herein
