Psychiatry Physician Job with Veterans Health Administration in Pittsburgh, PA

**Major Duties/Responsibilities:**

  • Provide psychiatric consultation for geriatric Veterans in the VA Community Living Center (CLC).
  • Manage geriatric Veterans in outpatient settings.
  • Offer a full range of psychiatric services, including diagnosis and behavioral disorder management, especially for geriatric and medically complex Veterans.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Consult with professional staff across Behavioral Health and other specialty programs.
  • Maintain timely documentation and clinical reminders for an assigned caseload.
  • Work independently within the Behavioral Health service line with full clinical privileges, taking professional responsibility for assessments and Veteran care decisions.
  • Provide outreach services to Veterans and their families as needed.
  • Contribute to inpatient Behavioral Health program quality and meet all VISN and VACO requirements.
  • Offer clinical consultation for complex cases to Behavioral Health clinicians.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and implementing clinical programs and initiatives.
  • Follow operational policies focusing on quality Veteran care.
  • Participate in program evaluation and quality improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with other medical programs for effective service delivery.
  • Meet performance measures, including timely care and documentation standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation, coding, and Veteran check-out procedures.
  • Attend administrative and team meetings and participate in peer reviews.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to psychiatry residents and fellows.
  • Collaborate with staff to optimize Behavioral Health services, including strategic planning and quality improvement.

**Work Schedule:** Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (flexible on days off).
