Position Overview

The Charleston Area Medical Center Institute for Academic Medicine seeks a dynamic Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry residency program director to lead our Psychiatry Residency Program. Responsibilities include curriculum development, resident supervision, recruitment, and compliance with accreditation standards. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and the Designated Institutional Official, the director will lead a team of psychiatrists and psychiatric sub-specialists to provide an exceptional learning environment and patient care.

Program Details

The Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry residency program is accredited for 6 residents per year, with a history of excellence. The program aims to train clinically competent psychiatrists prepared for private, public, or academic practice.

Candidate Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical school
• Current board certification
• At least 3 years post-residency teaching experience in an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Program
• Leadership experience in academic medicine; assistant or associate program director preferred
• Thorough understanding of accreditation requirements
• Scholarly activity demonstrating passion for academic medicine
