Job description

Rewarding Opportunity for Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist

We are seeking a BE / BC Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our cohesive multidisciplinary Inpatient Child and Adolescent team. Our 57-bed hospital provides inpatient care for over 650 children and adolescents and 1,300 adults annually, dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct patient services, including diagnostic admission evaluations, psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy as appropriate.
  2. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary treatment team, potentially acting as a clinical team leader to coordinate and supervise care across disciplines, offering guidance to team members in treatment planning.
  3. Work to minimize restraint and seclusion, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  4. Ensure timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and discharge summaries, complying with medical staff and regulatory standards.
  5. Monitor risk indicators, address risk management issues promptly, and ensure safety for clients, staff, and visitors. Consult with peers and serve as a resource within the team.
  6. Follow safe, evidence-based prescribing practices, obtaining informed consent for medication trials.
  7. Communicate effectively with outside providers, primary care physicians, schools, and families as needed.
  8. Provide rotational coverage during various shifts to ensure continuous psychiatric consultation services. Manage scheduling during absences.
  9. Supervise medical students, residents, and non-physician health professionals.
  10. Participate in Medical Staff Committees and meetings as per regulations.
  11. Contribute to a strong multidisciplinary approach within a collegial, work-family environment.
