Job summary

Empower Mental Health is seeking a Psychiatrist to conduct VA Compensation & Pension evaluations as a non-treatment, independent contractor. Evaluations may be conducted via telehealth or in-person, with per-evaluation compensation.

The ideal candidate holds an MD or DO license, is adept at objective, structured assessments, and can complete reports in VA-required formats while maintaining neutrality and confidentiality. Flexible schedules and ongoing opportunities to serve veterans.

Qualifications

• MD/DO license is required.
• Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow structured evaluation protocols.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation & Assessment
• Conduct structured psychological evaluations for Veterans based on VA guidelines
• Utilize Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and standardized assessment tools
• Gather relevant history through focused, objective interviews
• Objective Reporting
• Document findings clearly and concisely in VA-required formats
• Provide factual, unbiased assessments without influencing outcomes
• Complete and submit reports within required timeframes
• Non-Treatment Role
• No diagnosing for treatment, therapy, or medication management
• Maintain strict boundaries between evaluation and clinical care
• Professional Standards
• Adhere to all ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards
• Maintain professionalism when working with Veteran populations
