Job summary

The State of Georgia invites applications for a Psychiatrist to perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and manage pharmacotherapy for individuals with behavioral health disorders and developmental disabilities.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, document thoroughly, and stay compliant with all regulations while advancing professional development in a public health setting.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Completed psychiatric residency program.
• Board certification in Psychiatry or eligibility for ABPN.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in the relevant state.
• DEA registration valid.
• Experience with developmental disabilities and/or severe mental illness.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency with electronic health records.
• Commitment to person-centered, recovery-oriented care.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic assessments and risk assessments, for individuals with behavioral health disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring efficacy, side effects, and adherence.
• Provide ongoing psychiatric follow-up care, adjusting treatment plans as needed based on patient progress and clinical outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and direct care staff, to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical rounds to discuss patient progress and treatment strategies.
• Document all clinical encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to established standards and regulations.
• Provide consultation and education to staff, patients, and families regarding psychiatric conditions and treatment options.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and departmental regulations and policies regarding patient care, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
• Engage in continuous professional development and stay current with advancements in psychiatry, particularly in the areas of behavioral health and developmental disabilities.

Job Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.
• Board Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or eligibility for board certification.
• Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in [State, if applicable, otherwise state “the relevant jurisdiction”].
• Valid DEA registration.
• Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or severe and persistent mental illness.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Commitment to providing person-centered, recovery-oriented care.
