Job summary

STR Behavioral Health is opening a new PHP/IOP location in Chester County, PA. The role focuses on ensuring client health and safety, evaluating psychiatric needs, and prescribing medications within a collaborative clinical team.

The physician will consult with the treatment team on primary and co-occurring diagnoses, approve admissions based on medical and psychiatric criteria, and provide guidance to clinicians on treatment plans and care strategies.

Qualifications

  • Requires at least 3 years of residency in psychiatry.
  • Active Pennsylvania medical license.
  • Willingness to take after-hours calls and perform duties with clinical autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for clients.
  • Assess and prescribe appropriate medications as needed.
  • Conduct routine psychiatric evaluations and monitor client conditions.
  • Document medical and psychiatric treatments and recommendations.
  • Oversee and collaborate with Clinicians on treatment plans.
  • Pre-screen admissions by reviewing psych and medical records.
  • Participate in Clinical Treatment team meetings 2x a month.

The approach at our treatment centers is firmly rooted in individualized, person-centered care to help clients uncover the why behind their disorders and help them build foundational relationships that help answer the how in moving forwardPosition SummaryThis position’s responsibilities include ensuring the health and safety of all clients as well as assessing and prescribing appropriate medication regimes. This position also assesses medical and psychiatric issues and concerns then address or make appropriate referrals. This position also approves potential admissions based on medical and psychiatric requirements. This position is responsible for consulting with the treatment team on primary diagnosis and co-occurring issues.Relationships and ContactsWithin the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout STR Behavioral Health and affiliated facilities.Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.Position ResponsibilitiesEssential ResponsibilitiesMaintaining a safe and secure environmentHelp Clients by providing information, services, and assistanceRoutine checkups and psychiatric evaluations of clientsConducting follow up and evaluation of client physical and psychiatric conditions.Prescribe medications as necessaryDocument clinical, medical, and psychiatric treatments and recommendationsOversee and collaborate with Clinicians on client’s treatment plansParticipate in Clinical Treatment team meetings 2x a monthPre-screen clients by reviewing psych and medical records for admissionMinimum of two hours a week, depending on current censusAdditional ResponsibilitiesFunctions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.Represents the program within the community at local, regional, and national events, as requested.Assists in promoting and ensuring the organization’s values, mission, goals, and objectives are understood and actively supported by the employees.Performs other duties as assignedMinimum RequirementsEducation and ExperienceThis position requires at least 3 years of residency in psychiatry. Active calid licensed practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania. Willingness to work with a clinical to make recommendations and implement strategies that will benefit clients. Willingness to take calls during after hour day and times. Additionally, complete other tasks and duties appropriate to the position and/ or as assigned. PHI Access in MedicalPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers, clients, families’ other facilities and/or vendors.Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies – may be very quiet to moderate.Performs duties that require the employee to sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time.Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building and may require walking around facility grounds.While performing duties may be required to sit stationary for long periods of time.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.Ability to move up to 25 pounds.Additional RequirementsPosition requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and acceptable driving record.Clearance of TB test, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.Current CPR and First Aid certification.Skill CompetenciesWork Standards - Sets high standards of performance for self; assumes responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed.Communicating Effectively - Conveys information and ideas in a professional, clear, and timely manner; providing information to ensure understanding; soliciting input from the others during the communication.
