Job summary

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services is seeking a Psychiatric Social Worker for the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) in Hauppauge, NY. The role conducts patient evaluations, provides direct psychotherapy, and coordinates case management within a multidisciplinary team.

Shift is 6:00am–2:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with comprehensive health insurance, pension, paid time off, and holidays. Sponsorship is not available for this role, and relocation assistance is not offered.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
  • Certification as LMSW or LCSW by NYSED must be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients at the OTP to complete evaluations to determine service needs.
  • Refers patients to additional specialized programs to address unmet needs.
  • Provides direct psychotherapy to OTP patients, including emergency services when warranted.
  • Performs casework and case management services with patients.
  • Confers with relatives, collateral contacts and community agencies to assist in serving OTP patients.
  • Is part of a multi-disciplinary team and participates in case conferences and staff meetings.
