Job summary

Buffalo Psychiatric Center, operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health, is seeking an RN Psychiatric to join a multi-disciplinary team delivering patient-centered and recovery-focused mental health care.

The selected nurse will coordinate nursing care, perform assessments, develop care plans, educate patients and families, enforce infection control, and monitor patient responses to treatment in a busy psychiatric setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold license and current registration as a registered nurse in New York State.
• For internal transfers, one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law 70.1.
• Background checks will be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and providing nursing care
• Conducting nursing assessments
• Preparing, implementing, and modifying nursing care plans
• Providing health teaching, counseling, and education to individuals and families
• Implementing infection control protocols and procedures
• Observing and recording individuals symptoms and care; reporting responses to medications or changes in health
