Job summary

New York State Office of Mental Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Central New York Psychiatric Center’s Fishkill unit. The RN will join a multi-disciplinary team to deliver compassionate, patient-centered mental health care to individuals with serious mental illness.

Evening and night shift differentials apply, with weekend rotations. The position requires NY State RN licensure and a current registration.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current New York State registered professional nurse license.
• Must be eligible for transfer if currently in State Service under Civil Service rules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide nursing care for individuals with serious mental illness.
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop/modify care plans.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to patients and families.
• Implement infection control protocols and monitor patient health changes.
• Observe, document, and report responses to medications and health status.
