Job summary

Creekside Behavioral Health in Kingsport, Tennessee is hiring a Registered Nurse for the OP unit. You will provide nursing care, supervise LPNs/CNAs, develop care plans, assess patients, and communicate with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years’ nursing experience in clinical area preferred.
• Behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards in an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs and developing care plans.
• Assesses patient status on an ongoing basis and documents pertinent information.
• Creates specific nursing treatment plans and completes initial plan on admission.
• Takes and transcribes physician orders; ensures legibility and accuracy.
• Administers medications per orders and monitors controlled substances.
• Conducts psychoeducation and life skills groups as needed.
• Notifies physicians of significant changes in patient status.
• Supervises safe medication administration and patient identification procedures.
• Maintains accountability for medication administration records and narcotics inventory.
• Completes admission/discharge processes and communicates with the care team.
• Participates in unit activities and provides education to patients and families.

Education

Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing

RN licensure (state or compact)
