Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services seeks a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant IV (PNA Team Lead) for Big Spring State Hospital to coordinate PNAs, assist with daily living activities, and support recovery plans under a licensed nurse in an inpatient setting.

The role emphasizes leadership, clinical judgment, and effective communication, with monitoring of patient progress and safety. Overtime may be required; telework is not eligible.

Qualifications

• CAPPS, CARE, Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge.
• Knowledge of patient aggression reduction interventions.
• Knowledge of patient care techniques and recovery programs.
• Ability to lead and direct others on a unit.
• Proficiency with office equipment and recordkeeping.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate assignments for PNAs and assist patients with daily living.
• Support implementation of individualized recovery plans and communicate patient progress.
• Lead team discussions and reporting to RN; participate in shift change and handoffs.
• Promote safety, document patient conditions, and participate in crisis intervention as needed.
