Hartford HealthCare’s Backus Hospital and affiliated facilities in Connecticut are seeking a Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner for outpatient behavioral health across Williamantic & Norwich. The role involves evaluating psychiatric disorders, coordinating follow-up, and collaborating with psychiatrists to provide comprehensive care.

Qualifications include a Master’s in Nursing, CT APRN licensure, PMHNP certification, and 1+ year outpatient experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master’s program required.
• Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as an APRN in Connecticut
• National Board Certification as a PMHNP
• Preferred 1+ years outpatient psychiatric NP experience

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage psychiatric disorders
• Coordinate follow up care, referrals, and case management
• Perform crisis intervention and medication management
• Develop and implement long and short-range treatment plans
• Order and perform diagnostic tests and procedures, with patient follow-up
• Solicit medical management input when appropriate
• Complete all clinical reminders to keep patients up to date
• Work in collaboration with a Psychiatrist

Nurse Practitioner Role Scope

• Evaluate and manage psychiatric disorders

• Orders and performs diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, and provides patient notification and follow up care
• Solicits medical management consult or input when appropriate
• Completes all clinical reminders to keep each patient up to date in the system
• Work in collaborative practice with Psychiatrist

Advanced Practitioner Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master’s program required
• Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
• National Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
• Preferred 1+ years of experience working as an outpatient psychiatric nurse practitioner
