Gulfport Behavioral Health System, an acute behavioral health hospital on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, provides inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will perform psychiatric assessments and advise treatment plans in collaboration with the physician.

Roles span pediatric to detox/transition patients, with a day shift Monday–Friday and on‑call duties.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN with PMH specialization.
• Postgraduate PMH nursing program completed.
• Mississippi NP/APRN license with prescriptive authority if meds are exercised.

Position Summary

Join our expanding medical staff team where the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner assists in the process of evaluating patients. Responsible for psychiatric assessments for inpatient or outpatient populations and consults with the physician regarding treatment recommendations and referrals. Opportunities to work with various patient populations including children, adolescents, adults, military, and detox/transition patients. The position is a day shift position Monday through Friday with on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN and completion of a post graduate program for psychiatric mental health nursing.

Experience: Preferably two or more years experience within a psychiatric setting. A minimum of two (2) years experience in working with an Outpatient setting is preferred.

Licensure: Licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi as a Nurse Practitioner or APRN. If medication privileges are exercised, prescriptive authority from the Board of Medical Examiners is required.
