Job summary

Great Salt Plains Heath Center in Enid, OK is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The role demands responsibility, initiative, and a high sense of urgency to work at our Enid location. You will provide psychiatric services, conduct evaluations, and coordinate care with the supervising physician.

Eligible candidates maintain national certification and state licensure, and participate in ongoing education and community health referrals as part of our clinic team.

Qualifications

• Provides psychiatric services per standards of advanced nursing practice.
• Provides follow-up care for patients on a scheduled basis.
• Performs emergency assessments and treatment recommendations in crisis.
• Performs complete psychiatric evaluations per clinic protocols.
• Orders and interprets pertinent tests as indicated.
• Establishes medical diagnoses using DSM-5 criteria and plans of care.
• Prescribes treatment/medications per NP protocol.
• Provides crisis intervention as needed.
• Provides age-appropriate illness prevention and health maintenance counseling.
• Refers patients to other providers as clinically indicated.
• Consults with collaborating physician regularly.
• Maintains national certification and state licensure.
• Knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric services in line with nursing practice standards.
• Follow up with patients as scheduled to review diagnoses and plans of care.
• Conduct emergency assessments and make treatment recommendations when crises arise.
• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for new referrals according to protocols.
• Order and interpret lab tests and other diagnostics as clinically indicated.
• Develop diagnoses using DSM-5 criteria and outline care plans.
• Prescribe medications within the approved NP protocol.
• Offer crisis intervention when clinically indicated.
• Advise on illness prevention and health maintenance for patients.
• Make referrals to other care providers as needed.
• Regularly consult with supervising physician on clinical decisions.
• Maintain current licensure and certification.

Requirements of the Psych NP

• Provides psychiatric services consistent with current standards of advanced nursing practice.
• Provides follow-up care for patients on a scheduled basis, including diagnostic and plan of care reviews
• Provides emergency assessments and treatment recommendations for individuals presenting to the clinic in crisis or emergency, on an as‑needed basis
• Performs complete psychiatric evaluations for new referrals in accordance with clinic/agency protocols
• Orders, conducts and interprets pertinent laboratory and other diagnostic tests as clinically indicated
• Establishes medical diagnoses using DSM-5 criteria and determines plan of care for short-term and chronic health problems
• Prescribes treatment/medications or psychotropic disorders, as outlined within advanced nurse practice protocol established collaboratively with supervising physician.
• Provides crisis intervention, as clinically indicated
• Provides age-appropriate illness prevention and health maintenance counseling
• Makes appropriate and timely referrals to other community health care professionals and community resources as clinically indicated
• Consults with collaborating physician on a regular basis and/or as needed regarding clinical decision making
• Maintains national certification and state licensure.
• Knowledge of Laws, Policies/Procedures, of relevant bodies.
